Day 1: Dushanbe

Our guide will pick you up at the airport and check you into your hotel. The first day will be spent on a guided city tour. First we will visit Rudaki Park, the National library, the Parliament House and the Jomi Theater. Then we will walk through the National park and take pictures of the second biggest National Flag in the world – 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. After a tour in Central Museum you will have lunch. Then you will visit the Gurminj Museum of traditional Musical Instruments and the Kohi Navruz — the most beautiful and largest cultural and recreational center in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. To feel the real life, you should visit the Asian (Mehrgon) Bazaar. There are colorful goods, fruits and vegetables. Today we will see the main sights of Dushanbe and you will learn many interesting facts about the Tajik people. Dinner will be in a traditional restaurant where you will taste Tajik dishes.

Day 2: Dushanbe-Kalai-Khum

Today we will travel from Dushanbe to the village of Kalai-Khum. So-called Blue Sea. Area: 98 km², Length: 70 km, Volume: 10.5 km³. You will see the Norak Reservoir

The highest point of the mountain is the Shurabad Pass (2200 m) and begins after crossing the border with Afghanistan. This part will amaze you with its unique mountains and wonderful atmosphere — this is the Pamir mountain range. For centuries, the Pamirs have inspired the world’s greatest explorers — Marco Polo, Huang Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar. Now you also have the opportunity to travel here. You will travel along the natural border — the Pyanj River. Many travelers who have been to the Pamirs have called this giant mountain system an ocean of white and blue mountains. This night you will spend at home to see the life of the local people.

Day 3: Kalay Khumb-Khorog

In the morning we will go to Khorog. This is probably one of the smallest cities on the world map. It is surrounded by rocky mountains on all four sides. The city was built at the confluence of three rivers, the Shokhdara River and the Gund River, which flow into the Pyanj River. On the way to Khorog, you will meet Pamirs and traveling tourists. A number of anthropological features distinguish the Pamirs from the Tajik people. You can see that the Pamirs are different from the Tajiks in their behavior, attitude, clothing, and language. The Pamir Mountains are the highest inhabited mountain range in the world after the Himalayas in Tibet. Life in the mountains has made the local people’s customs different from those of the Tajiks.

Day 4: Khorog – Ishkashim (Wakhan Valley)

Our next stop is Ishkashim, a 40km drive, stopping at the Garmcashma hot springs for a dip. From here we enter the Tajik half of the Wakhan Valley (shared with Afghanistan) and pass through the regional gem mines mentioned by Marco Polo. The most famous mine is the Koh-i-Lal ruby mine, which can be seen from the road. Ishkashim itself may be the regional capital, but it is still a large village and we stay in a traditional-style guesthouse.

Day 5: Day 5: Ishkashim – Zorkul (Jashil Köl) – Maljouran

This morning, we begin our journey from Ishkashim towards the breathtaking Zorkul Lake (Jashil Köl), one of the most remote and sacred alpine lakes in the Pamir region. Our route follows the stunning Wakhan Corridor, where the mountains of Tajikistan and Afghanistan rise dramatically on either side of the valley.

We’ll explore the Zorkul Nature Reserve, a high-altitude protected area home to wild yaks, marmots, and rare bird species. The emerald-green waters of Zorkul are surrounded by untouched nature, offering a peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views.

After spending time at the lake, we will continue our adventure further into the highlands, heading toward Maljouran, a secluded and scenic summer pasture (jailoo) where local herders live in yurts. The route offers a raw and untouched landscape, perfect for photography and connecting with nature.

In Maljouran, you’ll have the opportunity to meet local nomads, see their traditional lifestyle, and enjoy a night in a yurt, under a sky full of stars. This part of the journey truly brings you closer to the spirit of the Pamirs.

Day 6: Maljuran – Alichur

Today, after breakfast in the peaceful Maljuran pasture, we descend to the stunning high-altitude village of Alichur. The open landscape of rolling hills, free-ranging yaks, and breathtaking views of the Pamir plateau with its sulfurous water at Sary Tash and vast mountain horizons.

We will reach Alichur by noon. After checking into a local guesthouse or hotel, you will have some time to have lunch and relax.

In the afternoon, we will explore the village of Alichur. Located at an altitude of over 3,800 meters, this remote settlement is home to Kyrgyz and Pamir people. You will have the opportunity to meet the friendly local people, visit traditional yurts, and see how life goes on in this harsh but beautiful environment.

Dinner will be served at the guesthouse with local dishes, and you will spend the night in Alichur, surrounded by the silence of the high Pamirs and the stars.

Day 7: Alichur – Bashgumbez – Uchkul – Cheshdebe

After breakfast in Alichur, we will start our journey to Cheshdebe via two interesting places: Bashgumbez and Uchkul.

Our first stop is Bashgumbez, known for its ancient stone domes and petroglyphs, which whisper stories of Silk Road travelers and nomads of the past. This is a unique place to feel history and take amazing panoramic photos.

From there, we will continue to Uchkul (“Three Lakes”), one of the hidden gems of the Pamirs. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and wildlife, this place is also home to the famous Marco Polo base camp, where we will take a short break and enjoy the atmosphere explored by the legendary adventurer.

After a short stay in the three lakes, we will head to Cheshdebe, where you will find a cozy guesthouse. The highlight of this place is the natural hot springs, where you can relax and recharge your batteries. Evening rest and dinner at the guesthouse.

Day 8: Cheshdebe – Murghab

After a relaxing morning at the hot springs of Cheshdebe, we begin our journey towards Murghab, the highest town in Tajikistan (3,650 m above sea level).

The road takes us through dramatic high-altitude landscapes, wide open valleys, and occasional views of grazing yaks and nomadic yurts. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the raw beauty of the Eastern Pamirs — a remote and untouched land where the sky seems closer, and silence speaks louder than words.

Upon arrival in Murghab, you will check in to a guesthouse or hotel. In the afternoon, we’ll take a short walk through the town to explore the local bazaar and get a sense of life in this isolated mountain region. Murghab is home to the Kyrgyz community, and you’ll notice their unique culture, clothing, and hospitality.

Dinner will be served at your guesthouse.

Day 9: Murghab – Madiyan Valley (Horseback Riding)

Today we will leave the town of Murghab and head to the peaceful and beautiful Madiyan Valley. This valley is known for its tranquil Pamiri nature, fresh air, mountains, and natural hot springs.

Upon arrival, you’ll have time to relax and connect with nature before going horseback riding. Exploring the valley on horseback is a perfect way to deeply enjoy its calm and breathtaking scenery. Along the way, you’ll pass by flowing streams, alpine plants between the rocks, and perhaps spot some wild mountain animals.

In the evening, you’ll stay in a traditional yurt or guesthouse. A delicious local dinner and a starry Pamir night will complete your experience.

Day 10: Overnight in Madiyan – Return to Murghab

We will spend the night in the serene Madiyan Valley, surrounded by high mountains and natural hot springs. The next morning, after breakfast, we will drive back to Murghab. On the way, you can enjoy more panoramic views and take photos of the breathtaking scenery.

Day 11: Murghab – Karakul Lake

After breakfast in Murghab, we will head towards the stunning Karakul Lake. The road takes us through the Ak Baital Pass (4,655 m), the highest pass in the former USSR. The views along the way are spectacular, with high mountain peaks and wide-open landscapes. Upon arrival, you will have time to walk along the lakeshore and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. We will stay overnight in a local guesthouse in Karakul village.

Day 12: Day 12: Karakul Lake – Osh City

After spending the night in Karakul, we will drive towards Osh, a vibrant city located in the Fergana Valley. The journey offers scenic views of the Pamir Mountains and the surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival in Osh, you will explore its highlights, including the famous Suleiman-Too Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the bustling local markets. Osh is known for its rich history, and you will have the chance to immerse yourself in its cultural heritage. Overnight stay in Osh.

Day 13: Departure from Osh

After exploring Osh, the journey will come to an end. Depending on your departure time, you will have the chance to relax or do some last-minute shopping. Our guide will transfer you to the airport or your chosen location for departure. Safe travels and unforgettable memories from this amazing journey!

Safe travels and we hope to see you again!
