Day 1: Dushanbe

Our guide will pick you up at the airport and check you into your hotel. The first day will be spent on a guided city tour. First we will visit Rudaki Park, the National library, the Parliament House and the Jomi Theater. Then we will walk through the National park and take pictures of the second biggest National Flag in the world – 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. After a tour in Central Museum you will have lunch. Then you will visit the Gurminj Museum of traditional Musical Instruments and the Kohi Navruz — the most beautiful and largest cultural and recreational center in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. To feel the real life, you should visit the Asian (Mehrgon) Bazaar. There are colorful goods, fruits and vegetables. Today we will see the main sights of Dushanbe and you will learn many interesting facts about the Tajik people. Dinner will be in a traditional restaurant where you will taste Tajik dishes.

Day 2: Dushanbe-Kalai-Khum

Today we will travel from Dushanbe to the village of Kalai-Khum. So-called Blue Sea. Area: 98 km², Length: 70 km, Volume: 10.5 km³. You will see the Norak Reservoir

The highest point of the mountain is the Shurabad Pass (2200 m) and begins after crossing the border with Afghanistan. This part will amaze you with its unique mountains and wonderful atmosphere — this is the Pamir mountain range. For centuries, the Pamirs have inspired the world’s greatest explorers — Marco Polo, Huang Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar. Now you also have the opportunity to travel here. You will travel along the natural border — the Pyanj River. Many travelers who have been to the Pamirs have called this giant mountain system an ocean of white and blue mountains. This night you will spend at home to see the life of the local people.

Day 3: Kalay Khumb-Khorog

In the morning we will go to Khorog. This is probably one of the smallest cities on the world map. It is surrounded by rocky mountains on all four sides. The city was built at the confluence of three rivers, the Shokhdara River and the Gund River, which flow into the Pyanj River. On the way to Khorog, you will meet Pamirs and traveling tourists. A number of anthropological features distinguish the Pamirs from the Tajik people. You can see that the Pamirs are different from the Tajiks in their behavior, attitude, clothing, and language. The Pamir Mountains are the highest inhabited mountain range in the world after the Himalayas in Tibet. Life in the mountains has made the local people’s customs different from those of the Tajiks.

Day 4: Khorog – Ishkashim (Wakhan Valley)

Our next stop is Ishkashim, a 40km drive, stopping at the Garmcashma hot springs for a dip. From here we enter the Tajik half of the Wakhan Valley (shared with Afghanistan) and pass through the regional gem mines mentioned by Marco Polo. The most famous mine is the Koh-i-Lal ruby mine, which can be seen from the road. Ishkashim itself may be the regional capital, but it is still a large village and we stay in a traditional-style guesthouse.

Day 5: Day 5: Ishkashim – Langar

Visit to the nearby village of Namadguti to visit the Khahkha Fortress. This impressive structure rises from a naturally formed platform of rock and dates back to the Kushan era of the 3rd Century. There are a number of these ancient fortresses in the area, and we also visit Yamchun fort, perhaps the most impressive of them. We take a break at the Bibi Fatima hot springs, named for the Prophet Mohammed’s daughter and where local women believe they can increase their fertility. Continuing on we then stop at the 4th Century Buddhist stupas at Vrang, reminders of the ancient pilgrim caravans that passed through the region.

Day 6: Langar-Alichor-(Bashgunbez)-Murgab

Leaving the lush valleys of the Wakhan Valley behind, we head into the rocky, mostly barren, but nevertheless dramatic landscape of Alichor. If you wish, you can ride a specially prepared Yak Bull and horse from Alichor village to Bashgunbez village. What Yak Bull? Yak Bull is a specially trained Yak for tourists to ride. So we spend the 6th day happily and stay in Bashgunbez village. Alichor (Bashgunbez) is a beautiful village between Khorog and Murgab.

Day 7: Alichor (Bashgunbez)-Murghab

On the 7th day, we will travel from the village of Alichor (Bashgunbez) to the Murgab district via Chesh-Dobo. «Chesh-Dobo» is a high-mountainous area located in the Murgab district of the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region of Tajikistan. This place is located in the eastern part of the Pamir Mountains, at an altitude of more than 3600 meters above sea level. Chesh-Dobo is one of the most interesting places for tourists. The natural beauty of its surroundings, high mountains and the traditional lifestyle of the local people, natural hot springs attract tourists. In particular, taking pictures with yaks and getting acquainted with local culture will be a special experience for tourists. Thus, after an interesting trip, we will go to the Murgab district in a good mood, where we will get acquainted with a hotel and a small market. Murgab is the Pamir Highway we have been waiting for, the route between Khorog and Osh passed through the high mountain terrain of the Tibetan plateau style in 1931.

Day 8: Cheshdebe – Murghab

After breakfast, we drive to Karakul (135 km). We cross several high mountain passes, including the Ak-Baital Pass (4655 meters), the highest point of the road in the former USSR. We descend to Karakul Lake, then cross the last pass of the Pamir Highway, the Kyzyl Art Pass (4282 meters), which essentially forms the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Karakul Lake is the highest lake in Central Asia and, at 3915 meters, is too high for water to be habitable. Karakul means «black lake», but in spring, summer and autumn the water is almost always slightly blue.

Day 9: Karakul-Osh

We leave the Pamir-Alai mountain range and leave the border between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and China behind us. The road offers a contrast as instead of the high plateau of Tajikistan, we encounter lush green farmland and small villages on this side of the mountain. On the way, we cross the Taldyk Pass (3554 m) and enjoy beautiful views — if possible, we will also catch a glimpse of Lenin Peak, the second highest mountain in Central Asia at 7134 m. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Osh, the oldest city in Kyrgyzstan, for some exploration.

Day 10: Osh-Chychkan

Today we will go to the Suusamyr Valley, the Osh-Chychkan road is one of the most beautiful and scenic roads in Kyrgyzstan. This road connects the south of Kyrgyzstan to the north, starts in the city of Osh and passes through the Toktogul district.

Day 11: Chichkan-Songkul

Chychkan Gorge — high mountains, waterfalls and clear rivers. Toktogul Reservoir — great for photography and relaxation. Kara-Kul city — a city with panoramic views along the way.

Song-Kul Lake – A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Kyrgyzstan. Located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters in the Naryn region, Song-Kul Lake is one of Kyrgyzstan’s most breathtaking alpine lakes. Surrounded by vast green pastures and snow-capped mountains, it offers a perfect escape into nature and nomadic culture.

Why Visit Song-Kul?

Nomadic Experience: Sleep in a traditional yurt, taste fermented mare’s milk (kumis), and witness authentic Kyrgyz hospitality. Horseback Adventures: Ride through open valleys and along the lake’s shoreline like the ancient nomads did. Stunning Nature: The lake’s calm, mirror-like surface and scenic surroundings are perfect for photography and relaxation. Seasonal Beauty: Accessible from June to September, when the pastures bloom and local herders set up their summer camps (jailoo). Ideal For: Nature lovers, adventure seekers, cultural explorers, photographers.

Day 12: Songkul Lake-Issikkul Lake

Travel to Cholpon-Ata on the north side of Issyk-Kul Lake to the largest and most beautiful lake in Central Asia. There is an optional opportunity to visit the open air museum of Stone Inscriptions in Cholpon Ata. Most of the drawings date from several thousand years B.C. up until the 12th Century A.D.

At 170km long and with a maximum depth of 695 metres, Issyk Kul is the tenth largest lake in the world and with its high levels of salinity never freezes, even in the harshest of winters here. Fed by many rivers, none flow from it contributing to a salt content of around 0.6%. In Soviet times it was a popular spa resort, and ongoing excavations show that there has been settlement around here for 2500 years or so. It is home to a number of different species of fish, many of which can only be found here.

Day 13: Issyk kul-Bishkek

Bishkek – The Vibrant Capital of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is a lively and welcoming city at the foot of the majestic Tian Shan mountains. As the capital of Kyrgyzstan, it offers a unique blend of Soviet architecture, modern cafes, green parks, and rich culture. Top Reasons to Visit Bishkek:

Explore Local Life: Wander through Osh Bazaar, try traditional food, and meet friendly locals.
